The Role of the Store

RESEARCH OVERVIEW:

  • Objective: To understand how retailers are redefining the role of the store in a world of increasing channel convergence.
  • Highlight: Survey respondents report an increase in channel proliferation, but the majority of sales are still happening in bricks and mortar store formats. There is a need to master channel convergence and use the stores to drive differentiated shopping experiences.
  • Survey Details: The research for this report was conducted from August 2012 – May 2013. It is based on an online survey among 143 retailers across three industries:  grocery, mass merchant and specialty.
