Abby Mayer

I am a research associate at Supply Chain Insights LLC and the author of the newly-founded blog, Supply Chain Index.

I have a B.A. in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College and a M.S. in International Supply Chain Management from Plymouth University, located in the United Kingdom. I have worked as an operations associate at Peabody Energy in the Powder River Basin, restaurant manager in Montana, and a stone staircase builder along Maine’s portion of the Appalachian Trail. I have also completed a thru-hike of Vermont’s 272 mile Long Trail, the oldest long distance hiking trail in the United States.  As part of the planning and food prep process, I was forced to predict my hunger pangs for the entire three-week trip before departure.  If that isn’t advanced demand planning, what is?!?!

ConstanceHello! Nice to meet you. I am happy to announce my recent career move to Supply Chain Insights as Director of Marketing. Here I am heading up the marketing and community strategy for the global advisory company.  Recently, I have been putting all of my efforts into producing the revolutionary Supply Chain Insights Community hosted on Jive platform, which will launch September 2012. Previously, I was the Director of Marketing at Kraus USA, a leading designer and manufacturer of unique bathroom fixtures and accessories. Prior to this, I was the Marketing Director for over 12 years at the Institute of Business Forecasting and Planning. There I had the opportunity to travel to many cities across the world including Dubai, Shanghai, London, and Amsterdam, as well as almost every major city in the U.S.
Outside of work, I always seem to be busy. Currently, I support our social media networking group by sitting on the Board of Directors for the Social Media Association planning their monthly programs. I am also passionate about helping the local community and volunteer when I can. As a co-founder of, an ambassador group to help with promotional efforts and fundraising opportunities for Island Harvest, I helped raise $30,000 in under 10 days with “Cycle for Island Harvest,” a four-hour cycle-thon. Fitness is fun and important to me, I train about six days a week for triathlons as well as cycle and run events. I enjoy the company of my husband on runs and I am a Tripp Doherty spin fanatic at Equinox Fitness. My two Jack Russell Terriers also keep me on my toes!

I am proud to call New York as my home for most of my life. I have spent some amazing years learning and meeting great people on the graduate level at New York University.  I graduated from Hofstra University on Long Island with a B.S. degree in Education.

Please connect with me on Linkedin, Twitter ( @constancek ) and starting September in our Supply Chain Insights Community.  Look out for my new blog “Behind the Supply Chain Scenes” to debut shortly.

I am the Research Director at Supply Chain Insights, which means I am responsible for managing our primary, quantitative research surveys – from survey design and execution through to data analysis and presentation.

I have over 20 years of client and supplier side research experience, most recently on the supplier side at novaQuant and Marketlab, where I managed a wide assortment of consumer and business-to-business research projects.  Prior to that I had many years managing research and marketing for interactive TV services at Wink and OpenTV as well as managing audience research at the NBC television network.   I have a BA in Psychology from Swarthmore College and a MA in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.

A consistent theme throughout my career and education has been a passion for understanding people – what they think, what they want, what’s working for them and what’s not.  I enjoy research as a tool for understanding people, products and processes in a systematic and quantifiable way.  I am excited to use research to understand the pain points, successes and goals of the supply chain community.

I live outside of San Francisco with my husband and two children.  I am active in the children’s school and enjoy hiking, playing tennis and running around with our labradoodle, Willoughby.
